The Pursuit By JackieThe StreetPreacher
When he went after Peter, his nets were empty. Peter’s frustration heavy. He had been fishing all day with no catch and empty nets. Yet there on the shore, stood a stranger. Calling to him. Cast your net to the right. His boat filled to overflow. He would call him, then he would in time show him how to be a fisher of men.
First he had to prune him. His mind and logic for power and prestige had to be tamed. His desire for vengeance, pruned. His rebuke swift when his desire to usurp God’s will for his own and the pressuring for Jesus to cancel his assignment to fill a desire of flesh had to be silenced. Who cares who is at the right hand of The Son when he is calling you to gather souls and fish so the will of the Father is victoriously won over the enemy.
Peter can you see I am calling you to throw down your will and cast your net to the right.
Until you do, your boat at your own hand will be empty. Until surrender and obedience to fish for men instead of fishing for self is your true heart.
Then and only then will you be the rock upon the rock I can build upon.
Peter there is a rock inside of you that must be shattered.
Your heart.
For surrender and obedience is found in the heart where the stone is melted and love revealed is pure love given.
Peter you will be my Rock, when you allow me to shatter the rock around your heart.
